KRA has been blamed for overtaxing betting companies leading to inability of performance to the companies .
Speaking before the Senate Committee on Justice and Law chaired by Nandi Senator Samson Cheraigei, the betting company chiefs said the revocation of their licensees had affected their business.
Members of the committee, including Senators James Orengo of Siaya and Mutula Kilonzo Junior of Makueni, have criticized the government for developing laws that prohibit the lottery business in Kenya.
Mutula has also called on the government to put in place strategies to tackle corruption and close the gambling business, saying the issue may scare investos.
On he other hand KRA authorities have vowed to continue shutting down companies that are not complying with the tax compliance policies , adding that this has caused the nation to lose millions of money to investors.
In April of this year, the interior CS, Fred Matiang'i issued the deadlines until 1st July for all betting companies to be re-registered following the fact that some are avoiding to pay taxes.
