"It was too heavy for me to carry ,my mom saw me and cried, since I couldn't manage to carry that full maize sack alone"- Papa Awiko a folk gospel music star tells us his painful life story

Wycliffe Andambi aka Papa Awiko, born in vihiga county and  raised by both parents is an upcoming Kenyan gospel artist and a star .
Papa awiko well known for his moving folk gospel songs and moves  explains how life  was hard  especially being raised in a polygamous  family. He says "life was not that easy we went through hard   times with my mom back in the village and my dad was a city guy who just visited us once in a while"
Like any other child brought up in such set up Awiko added that learning was not easy since his mother   had to do some casual jobs  to make sure that they get their daily bread and also manage paying school fees.
But he says that's  there was was  voice kept calling on him not to give up,as he could see a big and bright future ahead even though he dint know how this could come to reality one day.
He narrates this to Superstar magazine,"so the church where my mom used to fellowship every Sunday i also used to go for all services and participate in singing moreso during  normal services  where I used to lead the praise a worship team by then called Choir  and during competition we could emerge winners under my support",
As a little boy who had just  finished his KCPE exams  and waiting for result , he went to stay with his elder brother and his wife for short awhile.
Awiko reveals how  his sister  in-law  asked him  one day to look for an ID.
This was early signs of being told indirectly to start being a responsible man despite his tender age.
He was then forced to  go back to the village, forged a church-birth card, and birth certificate  so as to  meet the age of having  an ID constitutionally.
But not being lucky enough he was chased  away at the office  of registrar since he was still under age." I rem my aunt  came and took me to lugari to work   in the farm  for her son who was living in the city"  he added  that  "we finished  harvesting  and started doing same to other people to make money, but when the harvesting season ended I had to carry a sack of maize back to our village" he painfully added that this was one of the most bad experiences he had ever encountered in his life
"it was too heavy for me to carry ,my mom saw me and she cried because  I had to send some 1 to go and call them since I couldn't manage to carry the maize sack alone".
Like he was not ready to give up,the Superstar  continued with casual jobs  to look for bus fare to Nairobi to meet his dad to take him back to school.
Lucky enough,he managed but  wen he  arrived in Nairobi life changed ,his  dad took him to another man to teach him carpentry.
He had no other option but to accept the offer and continue focusing for better life.
Despite doing all this,he knew back in his mind that he had a talent and this could one day save him."Life became more hard and tough under the care of my carpentry teacher, he could spend outside living me behind with his 4yr old son to take care and make sure he goes to school, i had to go back to my dads place, as I stayed there, a friend of my dad took me to an Asian boss in town to work as a shopkeeper, where insult were my daily greetings, I had to quit the job, another lady who used to come at my dads place to buy water we used to sell , got me a casual job in standard group where I worked for sometime ,wen we complained about the wages,we were sucked  in 2004, now that's where life hit me coz I had rented a room which now   paying rent of sh600 I couldn't manage, life took me to stay with my younger brother who used to make African ornaments, he taught me and started doing piecework to make bracelets at sh2, while still doing that is wen I heard an advert in one of the station about talent search, I collaborated with a friend of mine from church to try our luck, we managed to register, and the competition started and we worn best group, best song, back in 2006, we worn a recording deal and that's where my music career started. He added.
Awiko   continued  with the hard life  but God is always faithful, through his  toil  he managed to ventureinto his  own business, making African Attire's and ornaments,  untill 2015 wen he  did his first my first audio album  tagged "USICHOKE" meaning "dont give up"  followed by his  first video song "NJOO TUSEMEZANE" "
He later  came to do another video shooting  in 2017 " TSINYANG'A TSIWEERE ( this are the last days) the song that  did well on the market  and on  the same year he  managed  to participate in Western Kenya Gospel Awards Male Artist of the Year  category which he worn the trophy.
"Its been a journey of challenges bUt I can see the light in the end of the tunnel"  said the Superstar .
2019  he has  done 2 songs NZIMIRIRA ( lead me) and BUKHA (arise) songs that are doing well on  media .
His talent came to limelight again where he started recording music and thatS how he has managed to bE one of the greatest folk gospel music who is gifted to sing both in swahili and in his Local Luhyia language
